COVERGIRL Colorlicious Lipstick and a gift card to Rent the Runway
I seriously cannot belive how fast this year flew by. I am not even ready for the Holiday’s and I know right behind that is New Year’s Eve. Last year I waited to the last minute to find an outfit. Running around the mall like a mad trying to throw something together is NOT happening this year.

I am not even sure what my plans will be this year, but whatever they are I know stylish and comfortable is what I am aiming for. Rent the Runway is perfect when shopping for special events. As I was browsing the site for a dress this simple, yet sexy dress from Helmut Lang caught my eye.
Helmut Lang Contra Drape Dress
$90 Rental $520 Retail www.renttherunway.com
The style of this dress is just my style classic with a twist. Accessories can really add a punch to this look.  I want to have a very soft and pretty makeup look to compliment this dress with a nude lip.

Have you ever worked your entire makeup look around one product? Normally I will choose my eye shadow colors first and go on from there, but for this look I started with the lip.

NEW Olay Regenerist Luminous Products available at Walmart

Olay/ SheSpeaks/ Skin/ Skin Care/ Walmart
Sponsored
Beauties, something is happening to me and I don’t like it. Ahhhhhhh, I am getting old. There I said it, humph. You know how people will tell you things change with your body as you age. When you are young you blow this off, well at least I did, whatever I said take care of yourself and it will be fine. While that is true sometimes well things happen anyway.  I say old with a little bit or sarcasm I am not really old, just older. Funny thing is I never sweated age much until the big 30. Is this a quarter life crisis? Well anyway I have been mildly obsessed with skin care as a result and really wanting to whip my skin back into shape.

My skin is not bad but I do have some issues. As a teen I never suffered with acne, the occasional mid forehead red monster would pop up every now and then but nothing much beyond that. My skin tone was even and the texture smooth. Well then something happened and in my mid twenties I started experimenting some mild adult acne that unfortunately left me with some dark spots I am on a mission to get rid of. I do have oily skin and some enlarged pores in spots but the thing bothering the most is I have lost that youthful glow.

Olay Regenerist Luminous Products available at Walmart

I say all this to say I am intrigued about the new Olay Regenerist Luminous line of products, now available at Walmart. This line claims to re-energize skin, banish dark shadows (not sure what that means), and reveal a more luminous skin tone. I know it take years for dark spots to fade, but if I can get some improvement in the overall look of my skin I would be happy.  Over the next few weeks I will be testing out this new line and give you an update on my thoughts.

I have used some Olay products in the past and have always been please, so I am really looking forward to this line.

Lancôme DreamTone Dark Spot Corrector Review

Lancome/ SheSpeaks/ Skin Care
Press Sample

How many of you wear some sort of makeup, bb cream powder most days to cover up dark spots, age spots or uneven skin tone. I’ll raise my hand. My skin goes through phases and with all the different products I test I’m bound to have a reaction to something and when I do breakout dark spots are not far behind.
Recently Lancôme  and She Speaks allowed me to try out the Lancôme  DreamTone DarkSpot Corrector and then dare to go bare by posting a bare selfie. Yikes I thought, not because I can’t be without makeup but because right now I am dealing with some skin issues. If you have been reading my blog for a while you may know that skin care is one of my things, but those who follow me on facebook know that back in September I had a bad reaction to a pore cleansing product and it sent me skin into an aggravated tailspin. It has taken me months to get it back to somewhat normal and unfortunately I was left with many dark spots. I’ll go into detail in another post about what products I used to curb the breakouts.

I have seen the commercials about the DreamTone and had been curious to try it, but reluctant because I know dark spots especially on darker skin tones can be hard to treat and frankly I have wasted a lot of money on over the counter treatments that claimed to fade them and didn’t. I was beyond excited when the opportunity to test it came up from She Speaks.

If you are not familiar with the DreamTone it’s a tinted dark spot corrector serum by Lancôme that is said to visibly correct dark spots, color imperfections and uneven skin tone. It does not contain any Parabens, sulfates or phthalates.  One thing that really stood out to me about the DreamTone is the fact that it is available in three diffrent shades. As a darken skin women this was good because many creams tend to be thick and have a white cast that can sit on the skin and make us look dull.  I used the DreamTone in #3 dark. As you can see in the picture below it had a cranberry tint to it and a light fruity fragrance.  The consistency of the serum was nice, it’s a cross between a serum and a cream. I found that it absorbed well into my skin.
So, you want to know how well it worked right?  Well I’m going bare so it’s safe to say I was pleased with the results. This may sound crazy but I noticed results after just a few days. Now my dark spots did not magically disappear but I can see them fading. The quickest result has been in the overall evenness of my skin. Besides the dark spots from the breakouts which will take time to fade, I had just uneven skin tone. Nothing major but my forehead and around my mouth were a bit darker than other areas of my face. One day as I was sitting at my vanity getting ready I looked at my face and noticed it was overall more luminous. The serum also leaves the skin very smooth with an almost satin like finish, this made a great base for my makeup, I found that I could skip my primer when using it.
I have been using the serum for a few weeks and will continue using it both morning and evening, excited to see what the long term use results will be on the rest of the spots.  I know the price tag of $98 a bottle is a bit high but quality, effective skin care is an investment that’s worth it to me.

*I was provided with a sample of Lancôme DreamTone through my affiliation as a shespeaks blogger, all opinions are my own.
