Time for a Closet Clean Out

I have been putting off cleaning out my closet for months now. Earlier this year I decided to move to more of a minimalist lifestyle. I was supposed to kick off that change with a massive purge, but I’ve been lazy and hadn’t quite gotten around to it yet. I very rarely go in my closet anymore.
I started the minimalist shift this Spring with a change to working with a capsule wardrobe. Btw this capsule wardrobe thing is really working out well for me. My daytime look is comprised mainly of blouses and pencil skirts, and my weekend wear is mostly jeans, white Tshirts, and colorful scarves.
For the past few months, I’ve been working with the same 10 or so pieces that I keep on a rolling garment rack in my spare room.
A few nights ago I went to move the rack, and it broke, as I stood there watching it go down and all the clothes spilling to the floor I thought it’s time to move the clothes to the closet. Most of the clothes in this closest haven’t been out in a year, and many of them will not fit into my capsule wardrobe plans.

I can’t believe this year is just about halfway over, where has the time gone? It’s been a pretty hectic year for me, lots going on and lots of change. I have a mile long list of things I want to accomplish, but there are three main focus areas I have started with and remained pretty consistent.

Resolutions Made Easy: 3 changes I’m making in the New Year

Sure, the start of the New Year is a great time to re-start and make changes, but I dislike feeling like a failure if I didn’t entirely accomplish everything on my resolution list.  In years past when I did make resolutions, they were always too broad and vague, more like a crazy goal without a clear roadmap or plan on how to go about achieving it. Instead of making basic resolutions like lose weight and become a millionaire….lol, this year I’m focusing more on small changes I can make that lead me to achieve more significant goals over time.

I’m taking some time to think about what I want to be different in my life for 2018 and what small changes I can make without becoming overwhelmed and giving up in a few months.  Committing to making changes is one thing but having a plan of action identifying the steps needed to accomplish those changes helps.
