Rewind: A look back on my Obsessions from June 2013 a.k.a Favorite Things ♥

Dior/ favorite things/ Juice Beauty/ Mac/ Music/ nyx/ Sedonalace/ Shimmer/ Skin Care/ Tarte

Seriously we are in July already I cannot belive how fast this year is flying by, I have even been seeing Fall and some Christmas decorations popping up in stores and it will be here before you know it. The weather down in the south has been great so far this summer, hot but not as humid as last year so it is bearable to be outside which is nice, I hope all of you are enjoying the season. I have a few great items to show you that I have been obsessed with over the past month so I will hush up now and get right into the picks.

June 2013 Favorite Things

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle: If I had to make a list of my holy grail makeup favorites Mac Mineralize skinfinish would be on it. I have been obsessed with this general product for at least 5 years and own several variations of it.

Soft & Gentle is a shade I like to use for highlighting, a subtle shimmer that is universally flattering for a variety of skin tones.

Sedona Lace Jumbo Fan Brush FB01: This is one of my favorite brushes from Sedona Lace and it is the perfect brush for applying powder highlighters.  With a very affordable retail price of $12.95 all my makeup loving gals need to add this brush to your collection.

NYX Matte Lipstick in Euro Trash: One of the main reasons I love this lipstick is not only the subtle pink tone but baby this formula is bulletproof.

I wore this all day and it didn’t budge and I did not need to reapply it, even through several meals and drinks.

Supergoop SPF 30 Sunscreen Serum: Now we all know how important it is to protect our skin from the sun. I have to admit I was bad in the past about using sunscreen on my face, a lot of them leave a white case and the thick formulas would break me out. I am head over heels in love with this sunscreen from supergoop. The formula is more of a serum, it is lightweight and absorbs completely while smoothing fine lines and wrinkles. This is the only sunscreen that doesn’t break me out, I actually use this year round.

    Dior Au Natural Nude Look Palette: I have been reaching for this palette more than any other lately. It’s perfect for summer and my go to when I need to do a quick 5 minute face.

    This palette is an all in one containing eyeshadow, lipgloss and bronzer and the colors will work on just about anyone.

    Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist: I am all about a face mist, especially in the summer although I do use them year round. Perfect way to re-hydrate and freshen up a face mid-day and great for when your traveling. This face mist from Juice beauty contains rosehip, ylang ylang, grapeseed oil and antioxidant juices. It’s light not sticky and wont smear your makeup.

      Lucas Papaw Ointment: I was first introduced to paw paw ointment back in December when I did a holiday swap with an Australian Blogger and now I can’t imagine not having it around. This ointment is like a miracle in a tube and everyone should have some. The uses are endless. Papaw is actually Papaya, yes the fruit.  Papaw is great for Cuts, Burns, Dry skin, Rough Cuticles etc but Baby let me tell you this is the best thing I have ever used for dry lips. Available on amazon.com yes everyone needs this in their medicine cabinet.

        Tarte Achiote Natural Cheek Tint: Universally flattering this is a shimmering pink peach colored cream blush.

        Natural look and long lasting. Also a perfect blush for summer when wearing minimal makeup.

        Shimmer Nail Polish: You have seen two posts recently from me with some Shimmer Swatches but anytime I wear a nail polish more than two times in one month I call it a favorite and I reached for Shimmer Karen a few times in June.  Beautiful multi-colored glitter top coat Wendy pairs well with a wide variety of colors.

          Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express: I think I mentioned once before I have an obsession with foundations, well I am also obsessed with Mascara. I can never have enough so I am always buying new ones. I love the curved brush on this one from Maybelline it makes my lashes look amazing and its affordable win win.

            What I’m listening to: A few songs have been on repeat in my car lately and yes I am not ashamed to admit I am a Mariah Carey fan. Music for me is one of my great escapes. In June I was loving:

            • Mariah Carey feat. Miguel: Beautiful
            • Robin Thicke feat. Pharrell & T.I.: Blurred Lines, hey hey hey this song is often stuck in my head.
            • Emeli Sande: I love the whole album “Our Version of Events”from this refreshing Scottish artist, but Next to Me might be my favorite song from this album.

            Last Item on my list for June these mixed nut blends from Planters. Always looking for healthier snack options and these nut blend satisfies. The NUT•rition Bone Health Mix is my favorite variety and contains almonds, granola clusters, yogurt-covered raisins, peaches, raspberries and cashews.
              Whew that was a sort of a long list. Have you tried any of these items, I would love to hear what you think of my picks and what some of your favorite things were in June.

              Rewind: A look back on my Obsessions from May aka Favorite Things

              favorite things/ Hair/ Loreal/ Mac/ Milani/ Nail Care/ Perfume/ Tarte/ Zoya

              Seriously I cannot believe we are in the month of June already, this year is flying bye. I had planned to bring back monthly favorites post last month but I was super busy with work and didn’t get a chance. So it’s officially back this month and I will do my best to keep up month to month. Over the past few months that I haven’t been posting a favorites I have tried a TON of new products that I love, here is quick rundown of a few, lets get right into it.

              First up is this warm peach bronze cream colour base from MAC Cosmetics, the color is seaside from the August 2011 Mac Me Over collection. The Cream colour bases can be applied to bare skin, or layered over foundation, moisturizer or powder. Mac recommends applying this with a brush however I prefer to use my fingers, I have been using this a an eye shadow base and I LOVE it. I blend it in but not completely I leave a hint of it showing up toward the brow bone for highlight, but my eye shadows adhere to it amazingly as a base and gives the colors some warmth. This particular color is from an old collection so unfortunately it may be hard to find, your best bet might be a cosmetics company store.

              Milani Baked Blush: Seriously If you haven’t tried these yet you are missing out. The color payoff for a drugstore brand is amazing. They apply very smooth and blend easily, the gold specks add a nice dimension of color. The color shown is red vino the darkest of the eight shades available. For a retail price of $7.99 these are a must have.

              I had been seeing some new hair care products from L’Oreal popping up for a few months now and one day I decided to give them a try. I had actual bought the entire line from the Total Repair 5 I wasn’t overall impressed with the shampoo and conditioner. Nothing bad about them but nothing all that special either. However the dry oil and the damage erasing balm are amazing. I had been wearing my curly, wavy unruly hair straight for most of the month and really putting it through the wringer with the heat from blow drying and flat ironing. After using the repair balm the first time I was in love with it. Instant gratification I saw and felt results with the first use. Shedding significantly reduced but oh my goodness my hair was soooooooo soft and smooth. The dry oil is nice, a quick spritz in the morning is all you need for nice shine, I also sprayed on a few dry spots on my scalp, watch it on the roots though, too much will leave it greasy.

              Tarte Cosmetics need I say more? I am totally obsessed with just about every product tarte makes.  If you are not familiar with tarte they are a natural based cosmetics line whose products do not contain parabens, mineral oil, sodium lauryl sulfate, synthetic fragrance or gluten.  Here are some of my favorites. For my oily skin girls you must try the amazonian clay foundation that I reviewed here. If you follow me on instagram you see I post a lot of my skin care items, I might be mildly obsessed with anti-aging and wrinkle prevention. The tarte maracuja oil is a must have a nice light facial oil with vitamin C and essential fatty acids. Aids in repairing and rebuilding skin, reduces redness, inflammation, irritation and helps even skin tone. Ladies with acne or oily skin don’t be afraid to use a facial oil, and any of my ladies over 30 you really should consider adding a facial oil to your skin care regimen. There is a lot of stuff in this picture so I will do a separate post on all of them but the lights, camera, action mascara is another one of my tarte loves.

              There was a lot of hype surrounding this lipstick release from the MAC, Rhianna collaboration. Ruby Woo is a classic Mac Lipstick. Although very very similar to Ruby Woo I find RiRi Woo slightly warmer and really a red lipstick that any woman can wear. If you missed the original release, RiRi Woo will be re-released this month. Tip, go ahead and pick one up.
              Last makeup item is this concealer from the Balm. Great coverage and consistency perfect to conceal undereye dark circles. Last all day, blends well and does not crease. Available from The Balm in nine colors. Shown in color med-dark.

               Zoya Pixie Dust no need to elaborate. Even though I got these in March I wore Vespa and Godiva more than once in April. Full swatches of this collection can be found here. Let me add oh my GAH I have a preview of the fall pixies on my facebook page and PLOP Tomoko and Chita so excited for them.

              While we are talking nails I picked up this ProFx cuticle remover from Walmart and its really great. The bottle is huge. This is a gel you apply to your cuticles, let soak in for 2 minutes then use a washcloth or brush to wipe the cuticle away.  The gel has no scent and is not sticky, perfect for hands and toes, I forget how much I paid for this I want to say around $3 this will easily last over a year or more so a great value.

              Another one of my obsessions, yes I know, I have a lot, is perfume. I’m a sucker for a pretty bottle. I snagged these two Salvatore Ferragamo fragrances Incanto Shine and Incanto Dream at TJ Maxx. Oh by the way, TJ Maxx another obsession there are a few good ones where I often catch some great finds. These are older fragrances first being released back in 2007. Incanto Shine has notes of Passion Fruit, Pineapple, Cedar,  Amber,  Freesia,  Musk,  Peony & Bergamot Peach while Incanto Dream has notes of Pineapple  Black Currant, Mango, Peony, Freesia, Sandlewood, Musk and & Pink Lady Apple. If your into light feminine fruity scents you will enjoy these, perfect for the Spring & Summer.

              Completely random but this Schick Hydro Silk razor is one that I like a lot. 5 blades with a skin guard, not much to describe but gives a nice close shave.
              Whew, are you still with me? I have been really amping up the clean eating and one of the last things I had to conquer with that was not drinking so much sugary juices and sweet tea. So for the past month I have been drinking a lot of fruit infused water. There are a ton of varieties for different needs but this lemon, strawberry, mint is my favorite.

              Lemon: Aids with digestions, cleansing the liver and antioxidants help fight wrinkles;
              Strawberries: Dietary fiber helps with digestion, lowers blood pressure, and has anti-inflammatory properties;
              Mint: Helps with headaches, nausea, digestion, and oral health.
              To make fruit infused water just take your ingredients slice them and muddle them a little bit in the bottom of your pitcher, fill with filtered water. Let sit at least two hours or better if overnight and enjoy.

              So what do you think of my obsessions from May? Have you tried any of these products?  I would love to hear about what some of your favorite things are also.

              Favorite Things August 2012

              Amrita Singh/ aveeno/ favorite things/ lush/ Mally Beauty/ nyx/ real techniques/ Sally Hansen/ Stila

              Hey dolls, so the summer is winding down and I am so sad to see it go. I feel like this summer flew by so fast. I hope you enjoyed yours as much as i enjoyed mine. The end of the month also means it’s time to take a look back at some of my favorite things so here we go with things I was loving in August.

              stila, eyeshadow, mally beauty, sally hansen, real techniques, makeup brushes, aveeno, lush

              Stila in the know palette: This is a great versatile palette great for transitioning into fall colors. The shadows are well pigmented and very easy to blend. You can read a full review of it here; Stila in the know palette review; Retail price $39 available at bloom.com

              Real Techniques Powder Brush: This is an amazing brush that is large, fluffy and super soft. Great quality and a steal at $10 you need this brush. I use it to apply my mineralize skinfinish powder by Mac Cosmetics. Available at realtechniques.com;

              Mally Beauty Evercolor Poreless Face Defender:  If you are looking for a product to set your face this is it, can also be worn without makeup to control oil and shine. Read my full review of it here Mally poreless face defender, retail price $40 available at mallybeauty.com ;

              Lush Lemony Flutter:    You may have heard of this amazing cuticle butter an wondered is it really worth the hype and the $14.95 price tag and the answer is YES if I could shout it from the rooftops you need this cuticle cream. As soon as you open the jar you are greeted with the refreshing lemon scent and the cream just melts into your skin, a little goes a long way so it will last a while. Also works great on other dry spots on your skin. Treat yourself and pick this up. Available in Lush stores and at lushusa.com;

              Garnier Fructis moroccan sleek: I have been using Argan Oil for a few years now and it does amazing things for my hair but they one I was using is a tad bit on the expensive side so when I saw this oil treatment version from Garner Fructis I had to give it  a try. It has a nice light scent and moisturizes for well with no greasy residue. Can be used as a hot oil treatment for extra conditioning, as a blow dry serum or you can also add a little to dry hair to tame flyaways and frizz and add shine. Avg. retail price $5.99;

              Aveeno : I received these Aveeno Ultra Calming makeup removing wipes as part of a Klout perk. Typically I don’t like to use wipes to remove makeup but these are very soft and gentle with a nice fragrance.Oh did I mention that they remove every trace of makeup, took off my waterproof mascara and eyeliner with ease. These are perfect for on the go or lazy days. Unlike most makeup remover wipes that have a peel and stick opening these have a snap closure that keeps them moist in the package. Avg. retail price $6.99;

              Amrita Singh Saqri Bracelet: I love accessories and bangles are one of my favorites. I have becoming slightly obsessed with the Indian designer Amrita Singh and was stocked when she popped up on Haute Look a few times this summer. This gold and coral colored coral colored stone bracelet added a nice fresh pop of color to summer outfits. If bangles are your thing I highly recommend you check her out and signup for Haute look to try and catch her next sale. This bracelet retails for $100 at www.amritasingh.com but I was able to get it for 40% off when she was on hautelook.com;

              NYX Eyeshadow Base:Helps color last longer on your lids, prevents creasing and intensifies color. Retail price $6.99 I normally use Urban Decay’s primer potion but I have to admit these NYX bases work just as well for a fraction of the price. Available in three shades, skin tone,pearl and white. For everyday looks go with the skin tone, to really get color to pop go with the white. Also works very well if you have eyeshadow shades that are not very well pigmented this will help give them a more intense color;

              Sally Hansen Vita Lips:  One of my biggest pet peeves is dry lips so I am always buying lip chaps, these vita lip chaps from Sally Hansen are great and inexpensive. Check out my full review of them here: Sally Hansen Vita Lips Review ;

              Sally Hansen Moisture Twist: We all know Sally Hansen for their nail products but did you know they make lip products as well. I am really liking these 2 in 1 moisture lip glosses. The primer sets a moisture base for smooth lips and the gloss is a nice hint of sheer shiny color. They are also lightly scented and contain jojoba, sunflower and argan oil for great lasting moisture.  Avg. retail price $4.99.

              I am such a product junkie that I try so many products each month, some I love, some not so much. What are some of your favorite things?  I would love to hear about them in the comments or post on my facebook wall. Have something you think I would love, or something you have wanted to try but need someone to test it first let me know.
