Five things Friday

5 On Friday/ Beauty

Press Samples/Purchased by me

Are you as excited as I am that today is FRIDAY? Friday’s make me happy. Last year I started doing monthly favorites post, this year I haven’t done any, YIKES. I have wanting to keep up with them, but life gets crazy sometimes and I got behind. I thought this year I would try it a little different and do a Five things Friday series instead. It is a lot easier to break things up into groups of five and stay on top of sharing my discoveries with you.  This series may change a little bit as I get used to it. My thought is they will be mostly beauty but occasionally if I discover something else I think you might care about, I’ll share that also. So let’s get on into it.

Five things Friday Josie Maran, Waxelene, Nars

Nars Radiant Cream Concealer

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer
I have really toned down my makeup for most days, and really only go all out when I have somewhere to go. Even for work, unless I have a big meeting or something, I keep the makeup fairly simple. My simplified makeup routine did not include concealer, well that was until I discovered this gem. OMG this concealer gives me life, I don’t look a exhausted mess when I use it. The consistency is so creamy and it blends really easy. I get absolutely no creasing with this.  I don’t love doe foot concealers in a tube like this because as it gets low the product is hard to get out. I will overlook that one flaw because in every other way this concealer is amazing, the best I have ever tried. I will never be without it.

Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil
I’m all about the double cleanse with either an oil or a balm. I have a few favorites but I kept hearing about the Josie Maran one.  One day when I was doing a Sephora order the e small cleansing oil popped up at the bottom of the screen for $10 so I added it.  I have tried a few products from Josie Maran and so far I have liked everything. As far as an oil cleanser I like this one a lot; the consistency is good, it emulsifies wonderfully and everything easily rinses away. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of with this, is the scent. I looked over the ingredients because I couldn’t put my finger on what it was that I didn’t like. The scent is strong. Grapefruit is listed in the ingredients and usually I like grapefruit,  but the scent of this is just too much for me. Unfortunately for that reason I don’t know that I would purchase this again. If Josie ever makes an unscented version though I would scoop that up in a minute.

This lip balm is a natural alternative to petroleum jelly and frankly works much better anyway at keeping my lips moisturized. Waxelene to petroleum jelly in that is creates a waterproof barrier but sans hydrogenated oil and petroleum. This is a great balm to carry in your purse, it has multiple uses. In a pinch I will even use it on my cuticles.  Available at various health food outlets, Whole Foods, Sprouts etc.

Salon Perfect Brow Pomade

I bought this like two months ago, put it in a drawer and forgot all about it.  I found it while reorganizing a bit and decided to use it. I have found drugstore brow products to be hit or miss. I picked up a powder once that I love ( I have no idea who makes it, the sticker on the bottom is gone) but some pencils I have tried have been garbage. I can’t even remember where I picked this up from, probably either Target or Christmas Tree Shop. There were two new Salon Perfect products and I got them both, I haven’t used the other one yet.  Salon Perfect did a good job with this, the consistency is more of a mousse than a gel. You don’t need a heavy hand or a lot of product. Unlike a gel this looks very natural when applied. If you are in need of an inexpensive brow fill I would recommend this

Percy & Reed

I stumbled upon this during a trip to TJMaxx a few months back. I have been looking for a hair perfume for a while. Way, way back when I was in College I remember L’Oreal had a spray that removed unwanted odors from your hair, and left it smelling nice. This was back before smoking in restaurants and clubs was banned, OH MY GOODNESS that definitely showed how old I am. My girlfriends and I would hate that our hair smelled like cigarettes when we left the club. I don’t know how much I really have a need for this type of product but it’s just something I like to have. Okay, who am I kidding since when has not having a need stopped me from buying random things. In my defense this one adds shine and fragrance, so I needed it as a shine spray…RIGHT?  I looked online and Percy & Reed is a UK brand so this may be hard to find stateside, but Space.NK does carry it.

Feed my addiction, have you discovered any new products lately? I would love to hear about them.
