3 things: Living my best queen life

I can’t believe this year is just about halfway over, where has the time gone? It’s been a pretty hectic year for me, lots going on and lots of change. I have a mile long list of things I want to accomplish, but there are three main focus areas I have started with and remained pretty consistent.

Practicing Patience/Self-Discipline
I started this year off making a note of some bad habits I needed to break.  I did a lot of soul-searching and self-reflecting and acknowledged some changes that were required. The first step in breaking these bad habits was identifying they existed, that was the hardest part. Putting together a plan of action to make better decisions going forward was the easier part. It’s WORK, but I’m making progress.

Practicing Resilience

There was a time that rebounding from an adverse situation was hard to handle. This year I’m making an effort to see the lesson in hardships presented. Journaling has been a great practice to help with this.

Practicing Self-Care
Last year I let self-care fall off the priority list, and by the end of the year, I was spent. This year not only is it a non-negotiable focus, but it’s also my number one priority. Being mindful of my physical, emotional, and mental health is a necessity. My self-care practices range from going on longs walks, treating myself to some beauty treatments or even relaxing with snacks, in comfy clothes catching up on a show. I’m currently obsessed with the series Queen of the South, seasons one and two are on Netflix. Two episodes in and I can’t stop watching boss babe female lead character Teresa Mendoza adapt when her life suddenly takes a drastic left turn.

I sat down to check out one or two episodes of Queen of the South a few days ago and ended up watching half the first season that night. At this rate, I’ll be all caught up for the season three premiere June 21st at 9/8c on USA Network. The season will air each week on Thursdays at 9/8c.
I think I got pulled in watching Teresa’s Resilience in flipping the hand she was dealt. I’m all for a show that features strong female lead characters; showing how they adapted and persevered through challenges is intriguing, Queen of the South is so good. Queen of the South brings the drama with action, betrayal & heartbreak.

If you’re looking for a new series to get hooked on, Queen of the South is it.
