Five-minute drugstore makeup routine

I tend to change my beauty or rather makeup taste with the seasons. Simple and minimal in the spring/summer and a heavier and more everyday glam in the fall/Winter. This year though I have been keeping my look more basic in the winter too. I ended the last year doing a major purge of my stash. Not only did I clean up and get rid of all products, but I also got rid of things I just wasn’t reaching for often. As I decided to get rid of things, I realized I hadn’t been wearing much makeup lately anyway.

I’m focused more on skincare than makeup these days, so that’s a factor, and so is enjoying the extra 20 minutes or so I can sleep in during the week.

I have managed to cut my everyday makeup look down to a 5-minute routine, and I only use four products.

Thankfully I haven’t had many blemishes lately, but some days if I didn’t get much sleep it will show around my eyes. First I cover any dark circles with the Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Hydrating Concealer with hyaluronic acid in shade Deep. This creamy concealer stick goes on very smooth and blends nicely; it didn’t settle into my creases or get cakey on me. The coverage is light to medium and the formula hydrates and brightens bonus; it doesn’t settle into any creases or get cakey.

More often than not I use liquid foundations but decided to switch things up and try a powder this time. Some days once I’m out of the house I’m gone for 10 -12 hours and my makeup will need a little touchup. Carrying around reapplying a liquid foundation isn’t something I want to bother with, the powder is much easier to take with me for when a touchup is required. I picked up the Neutrogena® SkinClearing  Mineral Powder in the shade, Honey. This mineral powder is part of the Skin Clearing line that features salicylic acid to help treat blemishes; the mineral formula is also gentle on the skin. I prefer to apply this powder with a brush, but it does come with a dual-sided applicator puff. If you want sheer coverage, you use the orange side of the puff, and for fuller coverage, you use the white side.

If I had to pick the one makeup item I could not live without, hands down it would be mascara. What a difference this one product can make in your look. The  Neutrogena® Hydro Boost plumping mascara gives my lashes both length and volume. Two quick coats and it’s oh yes, here are your lashes. The formula features hyaluronic acid, keratin, and vitamin E. Not only does the Neutrogena® Hydro Boost mascara keep my lashes looking hydrated and nourished, but it also doesn’t smudge.

Even when I wear a full face of makeup I hardly ever wear lipstick, unless I’m going somewhere special. Lipgloss is more my thing, and it’s typically some variation of a nude. Once I spotted the Neutrogena® Hydro Boost hydrating lip shine in Berry Brown, I knew that was the one for me. Don’t judge me but I bought two, so I could keep one in my bag at all times. There is also a shade named True Nude, but the Walmart I was at didn’t have it. The formula of this Neutrogena gloss meets the my lip gloss is poppin’ criteria, it’s hydrating, provides a nice my lip but better look, and isn’t sticky.

This super simple drugstore makeup routine is perfect for days when I need to get out the house quick, or just want to look natural but put together. Both the Neutrogena Hydra Boost & Skin Clearing Products are available at Walmart.
