“Aging is out of your control. How you handle it, though, is in your hands. “
-Diane Von Furstenberg
I remember a few years ago when I was turning 30 I had so much anxiety about it. In hindsight, I’m not sure what the big deal was all about. I’m a lot closer to forty than I am to thirty. I have a few gray hairs, laugh lines, and I need a nap before going out, but my outlook on aging has completely changed. I always like to think about how much I have changed and advice I would give to my younger self. I find the older I get the simpler I like my life to be. With all the products I get to test, blogs I read, YouTube video’s I watch and magazines I browse I have picked up enough beauty lessons to write a book. Even with all the tips and tricks, I have come across I have three main points I now live by, and they would be at the top of the list of any advice I give.
Own your awesome Having moments of picking ourselves apart or having self-doubt is probably normal. My thing is to make an effort to try and embrace all of who you are, the perceived flaws, the quirks, all of it. The best skincare routine and flawless makeup application can give us a boost, but nothing will make you radiate more than just owning who you are. Talk positively to yourself, remember words and thoughts have power; heck put a mantra on your mirror if you need to. Walk in the comfort of being unapologetically you every single day. Laugh more, stress less. We all know that living a healthy lifestyle is important. Less junk and processed food, staying active, etc. But stress is probably one of the worst things for us. Stress takes a toll on our bodies both on the inside and outside.
My grandmother always told me stressing is pointless. You do the best you can do and move on. Every time I feel myself starting to stress about something I can hear her voice in my head “All of that that stressing hasn’t changed one thing.” The more I thought about her words, the more I realized she was right. I don’t stress about things nearly as much anymore and whenever I notice a stressful feeling creeping up I replace it with something else. I’ll have an impromptu dance break, go for a walk, write in a journal, or do my favorite activity; laugh. I have noticeable smile lines, and that is okay, instead of a negative they remind me that I laugh and smile a lot. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate If you do nothing else, stay hydrated and don’t skip moisturizer. I’m over 35 now so anti-aging is on my radar. Thankfully I learned early on that good skincare doesn’t have to cost a fortune and prevention is easier and cheaper than treatment. When my skin is dry is also appears shallow. A good moisturizer will take you places and it’s probably one of the most important products in my routine.
The Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream not only rehydrates my skin, it also gives it a plump, firm appearance. Packed with Amino-Peptide Complex II, and hyaluronic acid that not only deeply penetrates waking up my lackluster skin, it helps regenerate skin’s cells. After the first nights use I could already see a difference The second day not only was my skin soft, it didn’t feel or look dry. One week into using the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream as both my a.m. and p.m. moisturizer and I’m a fan.
Effective skincare doesn’t have to cost a fortune and it’s never too early to start an anti-aging skincare routine. I started paying attention to anti-aging when I was around 25 years old and trust me I wasn’t breaking the bank with high prices products and treatments. Getting good sleep, drinking plenty of water and using a good moisturizer is all you need.
In an independent test by the Good Housekeeping Institute results showed that Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting, Cream outperformed 10 top prestige creams (one of which had a $400 price tag) and I can see why. This moisturizer doesn’t feel heavy on the skin it penetrates and absorbs completely not leaving a heavy or greasy feeling on the skin.
The Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream leaves my face feeling soft, hydrated, and glowing; I see and feel a wonderful change in my skin. I’m always curious when other people started paying attention to aging. Is this something that you give thought to? Are you focusing on living a healthier lifestyle and slowing down the process while adopting an anti-aging skincare routine? Tell me about a beauty rule you live by.
