Brand Spotlight: Introducing Real Purity

One of my favorite sayings is “when we know better, we do better.”   A few years ago I  started making significant changes in the type of food I eat due to concerns with GMO’s and a host of other not so good things that may be in our food.  While making changes, albeit small ones is good, I knew that I had to start making changes beyond the kitchen. As my life is shifting, I thought this would be a good time to start sharing some of the clean and green brands I have been using. I am not a 100% convert yet, but ultimately I would like to overhaul all areas of my life to be less toxic.

Real Purity is a natural line that uses high quality botanical and plant-derived ingredients. I tried a variety of products from the line from body care to hair care to the cosmetics.

Natural_Organic_Makeup-Dark_SkinBody Care:
Sweet Citrus Body Wash: This body wash was nice, it lathers well and rinses completely not leaving the skin striped.  The scent is pleasant and leans more to an orange or tangerine citrus, but it’s not overpowering.

Dr. Rich’s Magnesium Oil Spray: I have been researching the benefits of magnesium for a while and have incorporated it into my routine. Up until now, I was taking magnesium as a supplement and also drinking it a few nights a week to help ith anxiety, stress, and tension. When I saw that Real Purity offered a topical magnesium product I had to try it. This product is phenomenal and was very effective at easing aches and pains, definitely keeping a bottle on hand; I don’t want to be without it.

Fragrance-Free Moisturizing Conditioner

Real Purity Hair Repair Shampoo and Moisturizing Condioner

My hair and scalp can be on the dry side and currently, I have a little bit of damage, I am way overdue for a trim. I am trying to limit heat styling, so I have been wearing my hair in my curly or picked out styles. My hair is a hodge podge of several textures, and when I wear it as is, I get better results using paraben free products. Of course, the shampoo is not going to lather sudsy like a traditional chemical laden shampoo. I found the lather of the Nourishing hair shampoo to be good, and just enough to satisfy that need to feel like the suds are helping get your hair and scalp clean. The moisturizing conditioner was great and allowed me to detangle my unruly hair with ease.

Cosmetics:

Real Purity Black Mascara

This is my first time using a “green mascara, ” and this one wasn’t bad. My lashes are not in the greatest shape, so anything helps. The Real Purity Mascara was pretty basic, for me it didn’t help much with lengthening. My lashes are so short and stumpy I have to wear mascara, this one made me look like I had decent lashes.  I found this mascara non-irritating, and it lasted all day with no smudging. I use an oil cleanser in the evening it removed no problem. Real Purity does have a mascara primer, and I think I will pick that up and see if adding the base helps with the lengthening aspect for me.

Desert Rose Powder Blush
This blush was perfect for me and will probably be in heavy rotation this Spring. It has no shimmer which is a plus for me and my large pores. At first glance I though it might be a little too pink for my skin tone, but it ended up being perfect. The color gave me that natural grandma just pinched my cheeks feel. I imagine I’ll use this a lot this Spring/Summer, especially when I go for that “no makeup” look.

Mulberry Eye Shadow
I have only tried a few natural eyeshadows, and I hadn’t had good success with them. The clean shadows I used in the past were lacking in pigmentation and didn’t last very long.  Since I only tried one shade from the Real Purity eyeshadows, I don’t know if I just got lucky with this color or what. The pigmentation of shade Mulberry blew me away. If the other colors have a formula anything like this one, I will take them all. This eye shadow applied so nicely and blended out very easily.Real Purity: Eyeshadow, Blush

Mauve Kiss Lip Gloss: This lip gloss is supposed to have a mild Strawberry flavor. I didn’t notice the taste of any flavor, but it has a very faint scent of strawberry. The gloss was not sticky and gave just a hint of color on my skin tone. I did have to reapply this throughout the day, but most glosses don’t last me through eating, so that wasn’t a big deal to me. The formula which contains castor, macadamia and avocado oils, it felt nice on the lips and provided hydration.

This brand is new to me, but it sounds pretty great. I love the blush and shadow shades!

  • I really like the look of those eyeshadows. I haven’t had much luck with “green” mascaras in the past.

The pigmentation of the shadows look amazing! I don’t get enough “lift” with green mascaras, so I tend to shy away from them for the most part

  • That blush is stunning!

  • Those makeup colors look so beautiful on you! I love that this brand uses safe ingredients for their products. I’ve been using more clean products myself lately, and they are more fun than I thought.
