I’m sharing #OBelievers in my life as part of an o.b.® sponsored series for Socialstars™
Are you planning any getaways for the summer? I have way more places on my travel list then I have time to visit, but you can bet I’m taking a much-needed vacation to somewhere this summer. I don’t particularly like flying, yup I’m one of those who gets anxiety. No matter what I am going to get nervous, so anything that adds stress to a trip is no good. Thankfully I have a routine that helps keep me calm and following these tips take some of the stress away.
Plan Ahead:Fortunately, I have never run into a situation where I lost my passport, and I don’t ever want to. A little just in case tip I picked up years ago is worth noting. Back up your documents – Scan a copy of your passport, ID, Credit Cards and any other relevant paperwork and email it to yourself, this includes phone numbers. If something happens having these backup copies will make obtaining new documents faster and easier. I say phone numbers too because so many of us don’t memorize numbers anymore, thanks, technology, but if you lose your phone too at least, you can pull up email from almost anywhere.
Downsize the handbag ladies. Only bring what you need, leave the extra credit cards and things at home. If you are traveling outside of the country make sure your credit/debit cards are clear for international use; you don’t want your card declined because your bank might think the spending is fraudulent. Cell Phone Settings – When traveling abroad be aware of possible roaming fees and data usage. Check with your carrier ahead of time about international plans, data, etc. and adjust your plans accordingly. Trust me on this one. A few years ago I got hit with a $750 cell phone bill after using my phone to chat with my mom who was on a trip in Africa. I thought the call were free since it was after 9 pm, I WAS WRONG.
Always pack Extra – If you didn’t take pictures did the trip really happen? Don’t get caught with a dead camera or phone, pack an extra battery for your camera and bring a portable cell phone battery.
Comfort is Key:Once upon a time I used to “get dressed” when traveling, but since I’m not flying private jet à la Kim Kardashian, comfort reigns supreme for me. Now I’m not talking pajamas and slippers comfortable but rather neat loose fitting clothes. Boyfriend style jeans, a fresh white t-shirt and coach slip on loafers are my go-to travel uniform. The loafers are super comfortable. I can walk or run in them if necessary, and they slip on and off quickly, so I don’t hold up the TSA line.
If there is one thing I don’t leave home without when traveling by train, plane or automobile, it’s a pashmina or a scarf in a versatile print. I’m the girl who is always cold. A light wrap can pull double duty as a chic accessory and a blanket.
Expect the Unexpected:Even the most prepared traveler can run into a snafu. Travel can be unpredictable, in essence, things happen. Have you experienced unexpectedly being stuck in an airport or worse made it to your destination without your luggage? Don’t let this hiccup ruin your day, pack smarter and anticipate things going wrong. Always keep overnight essentials in your carry one bag, no matter what happens you will at least be comfortable if you have to go a day or two without your luggage.
Keep quick snacks on hand; liquids are limited until you pass through the TSA checkpoint so you may have to buy water or a drink. Granola bars, apples, banana, grapes, pretzels, etc. pack well, don’t make a mess and can be a lifesaver for when you’re hungry and don’t want to purchase junk food at a newsstand.
A small medical kit is a must have. The last thing you want creeping up on you during travel is any sickness or worse yet a surprise from Mother Nature. I’m that girl who is always prepared for anything if you need it chances are I’ve got it. I keep a stash of Pain reliever, Diarrhea & Nausea meds, and tampons both in my purse and carryon bag. The compact design of the o.b.® Pro Comfort makes them easy to discreetly carry. TMI but I deal with a heavy flow, and we all know how tight and small airplane bathrooms are. I try to avoid using them at all. When I’m flying, and Aunt Flow is with me, I know I can count on the Fluid Lock® grooves of theo.b.® Tamponsto keep me protected and not worrying about a leak. Remember comfort is key when traveling and this is no exception. o.b. is the only tampon with a SilkTouch™ cover to keep you comfortable and protected.
So what are your plans for a summer trip? I’m looking at cruises hoping to book something this week. Mama needs to relax somewhere with a good book in one hand a tropical drink in the other. Are you a seasoned traveler? Share your best travel tips.
