Hair has always kind of just been my thing. Short, long, curly, straight, I have gone through many hair phases. I have my lazy moments but for the most part I try to have routines for my hair care to keep it looking good. Whether my hair is bouncing and behaving or up in a messy bun, I want it to look good and be healthy. There is something about healthy shiny hair that can give a boost of confidence. Today I am sharing my top 5 tips and tricks to getting shiny hair.
Deep Condition: There are so many ways we abuse our hair; coloring and heat usage are two factors that can often cause damage. Recovery is possible and deep conditioning is key. Use a quality deep conditioner or hair mask once a week to repair damage and add moisture back. Dry hair appears dull so deep conditioning to restore thirsty strands will help with shine. For added benefits add heat or steam to your deep conditioning treatments.
Clarify: Besides cleaning the scalp clarifying shampoos or rinses help remove buildup from hair strands. Hair with buildup can look weighed down, greasy and dull. An easy way to cleanse the scalp and remove buildable from the hair is with an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse. Mix 1:1 water and organic apple cider vinegar and apply to hair. You can use this mix as a pre-treatment before shampooing or an after conditioner rinse.
Upgrade your brush: Anyone who has had their hair snagged in a brush knows that sometimes it’s worth paying attention to the brush they’re using. By bushing your hair with a copper bristled brush you are reducing the natural buildup. Goody now has three new cooper bristle brushes available at Walmart. I have been using the Goody Clear Radiance large paddle brush for a few weeks. I love how the cooper bristles massage my scalp to reduce buildup and restore the natural moisture balance. The flexible cushion pad of the good clear radiance copper bristle brush provides extra comfort while you brush your way to shiny hair, 100 strokes a day not required.
-Because the copper absorbs heat it, do not use this brush in conjunction with blow-drying.
Get with the Serum: Adding a light oil or silicone serum is a nice way to tame frizzy or unruly hair. Add a pea sized amount of serum to wet or dry hair for some shine with protection. Be careful with the amount, too much can weigh hair down. Start at the ends of the hair and work your way up.
Watch your Diet: Just like our skin what we eat can effect the health of our hair. Hair vitamins and supplements can do more than just help with growth. Consuming the daily recommended dose of Vitamins A & E along with trying to maintain eating a well balanced diet and staying hydrated can help with hairs shine.
