When I was prepping my hair for bed the other night and staring deeply in to the mirror I let out the biggest sigh as I discovered three more grey hairs. I know shut up right, it’s three freaking grey’s hairs…big deal. Every time I see one of these I reminded that I’m getting older, it’s not necessarily a bad thing, but just a thing you know? I wish I could say that I was totally fine with aging but I’m not. The frank reality is that I’m aging, it’s the aging gracefully I wasn’t sold on.
Getting older is not all bad don’t get me wrong, there is the wisdom and stability that comes with each passing year. It’s the visible signs of aging starting to show that annoy me. Part of my obsession with skin care is my wish to fight the visible signs of aging for as long as possible. I’m definitely being somewhat dramatic about this; I mean the first grey hair had me a little anxious, but otherwise it just is what it is.
For my age I should be okay with how my skin is aging. There are a few fine lines creeping up under my eyes and my smile lines are deepening just a bit. For the past few weeks I have incorporated two new .L’Oreal products into my skin care routine that are targeted towards revitalizing.
Packaging is always something I notice so I had to mention that the look of the serum tube and moisturizer jar is nice and sleek. Beyond the packaging this as a skin care duo that didn’t disappoint. I went into the first use thinking it could probably be weeks before I could see any difference using this line; I was wrong. After the first week I was seeing positive changes, so let’s break down in more detail the two products I used.
My goal is to care for my skin. There is a bit of character that comes with my smile lines and under eye wrinkles so I don’t want them to completely be erased. I might seem like I’m contradicting myself with the I want to fight aging but I don’t want to erase it. I am trying to accepted that these signs are going to show, and I am okay with that. The lines and wrinkles I have show that I smile and laugh a lot. Sure I wake up some days and sigh at the fact that concealer is now a necessity. Darkness and bags have made a home under my eyes, but I also know that those came from long nights I spent up chasing my dreams.
As we increase in age our skins volume tends to decrease, elasticity changes, gravity kicks in and skin can look thinner and less firm. The concentrated levels of hyaluronic acid in the L’Oréal Revitalift™ Volume Filler Daily Volumizing Concentrated Serumhelps balance skins moisture levels and replenish volume. With the first use I noticed more suppleness in the areas applied. I targeted this serum to my under eye area and my smile lines. After focusing on those two spots and remaining serum on my hands I patted into the rest of my face. The unique airless dropper looked like a fancy prescription treatment you would need a Dr. to get. The packaging design is not only appealing but functional as it dispenses the exact proper dose with each pump. By the end of week two my lines are not as deep and my makeup no longer settles into them by midday. The effectiveness of this serum exceeded my expectations and then some.
Educating ourselves on the proper products to meet our skins specific needs is an important part of designing a skin care routine. We are never really to young or old to focus on caring for our skin. Analyzing what products are best for our skins needs gets overwhelming. I’m learning to embrace aging. Now when I look in the mirror now my eyes aren’t drawn to my little reminders of aging or a tired, sullen face staring back at me. My skin is clearer, firmer and radiant. I now see a maturer, wiser version of myself looking back. I have a new appreciation for my skin and the story it tells. Every forehead wrinkle, every smile line; they are part of a journey. Aging isn’t the end of the world after all, I can’t deny I’m getting older but my skin is maturing with me, gracefully at that.
What is your skin story? Are you okay with the current state of your skin, or are there things you want to improve?
