Lady Gaga in true to form fashion has undergone a bit of a transformation in the past year or so. Gaga is always true to Gaga, she is atypical but I feel like she is less gimmicky and more refined. I was not in the least surprised to hear that her second fragrance launch would unisex.
Gaga is not exactly androgynous but something about her makes me thinks of celebrities like Annie Lennox and Grace Jones there is a feminine yet masculine fierceness. True to this feeling Gaga nails her latest release simply named EAU DE GAGA. There hasn’t been much buzz or promotion around the release of the fragrance which launched late in 2014 and I cannot understand why. Gaga nails the unisex aspect which is something not many have successfully done. In my opinion this is one of the most underrated fragrances released in the last year.
I’m always a little reluctant of fragrances labeled as unisex, I don”t want to smell strong and masculine and I know my guy doesn’t want to smell sweet and floral. There are female fragrances that have woods and musk notes that I like but I’m always worried about that right balance with anything labeled unisex. EAU DE GAGA is built around with the scent of white violet, the top note of lime gives off a true citrus scent that is not overly sweet and the base note of leather pulls everything together.
The design of the bottle is basic, sleek and sophisticated making it appealing to sit on a females vanity or a mans dresser. There is a mature sexiness in the simplicity.
I was pleasantly surprised the first day I wore this , the scent starts of strong with the sweet citrus of the lime but then definitely settles into a sexiness. Of course I had to test it out on a man and knowing my guy if I told him who made this fragrance he would never have tried it. I spritzed a little on him and just asked his opinion, he loved it. A few hours later when I asked him again how he liked it I revealed that it was by Lady Gaga and he couldn’t believe it. The Mr. likes this scent so much he has worn it more than I have, the bottles seems to have made its way over to his cologne tray, I guess I need to get my own bottle.
I’m still surprised that I don’t hear a lot of buzz about EAU DE GAGA, without a doubt this is a sexy scent and hits the ball out of the park as far as an appealing unisex offering.
