Sometimes I think about all the beauty tips and tricks I have picked up over the years and wish I could go back and tell them to my younger self. If I ever am blessed to to have a daughter, boy what a wealth of knowledge she will receive. I have been “double cleansing” on and off for about 10 years now. In the past two years double cleansing has become a must do step in my skin care routine, especially on days I wore makeup.
I have written about my love for dermalogica several times in the past. It’s one of the brands I discovered years ago that has since been in heavy rotation. The two products I have to show you today I haven’t written about before that I recall, although one of them I have used in the past. If you are a makeup wearer and you are not double cleansing I urge you to give it a try. Skincare is one area where I will justify a splurge if the product gives me results. There are some cleansers that are great at cleansing my face but don’t remove makeup well which is annoying. If I spent a pretty penny on a cleanser I don’t want to waste it washing my face more than once to get the makeup off. This is where a product like the dermalogica PreCleanse comes in handy. dermaoligca has two product options to aid in your “double-cleanse” routine; the PreCleanse oil and the PreCleanse wipes.
The dermalogica PreCleanse Oil is a nice lightweight oil with a citrus scent. You apply this oil to dry skin and massage in to the face to dissolve makeup. You will not need a separate eye makeup remover when using this oil. The dermalogica PreCleanse gently and effectively removes all traces of makeup, even waterproof mascara. Once you have thoroughly massaged the oil in, you will emulsify by wetting your hands with water and continuing to massage, the oil will change to a milky emulsion that easily rinses away and leaves no heavy oil residue.
The dermalogica PreCleanse Wipes are a gentle and effective makeup remover, perfect for travel or when you are feeling lazy. I’ll admit makeup remover wipes are not my favorite, I prefer the cleansing oils, but on the random nights I get home late and I’m feeling too tired and lazy for my whole routine, wipes have been a lifesaver. You can begin wiping your face with these wipes to remove makeup, wet lightly to activate the emulsion. While the Preleanse wipes were pretty good at removing my makeup, they did not remove my waterproof mascara as well as the oil did. On the nights I used the wipes alone, I had to go over my eye area with a separate eye makeup remover. Sidenote these products work great together. I have been using the wipes now as a light precleanse on days I don’t wear makeup and some days I use it to wipe off the PreCleanse oil.
I always keep cleansing oils on hand and the dermalgica pre-cleanse is one I plan to keep in rotation, I love it.
Are you a one step or a two step face washer? If you aren’t double cleansing do you think this is a method you could get into?
