Okay lovelies, I have a slightly different post for you today but I want you to stay with me on this one. Over the past few years I have become increasingly health conscious and moving toward an overall my natural lifestyle. No I haven’t given up my home to pitch a tent in the jungle, not quite that extreme, but just more aware. I definitely cook different, Whole Foods sees me me more often. Beyond food though I am more in tune with what I use around my home for cleaning as well as things I put on my body. Over the years there have been a lot of conflicting reports surrounding whether or not Aluminum in Deodorants/Antiperspirants had any effect on breast cancer. This was something that has weighed heavily on me as I know someone who was diagnosed with breast cancer after discovering a lump under her arm. I know their has yet to be a definitive link to the two but it just got me thinking more about aluminium toxicity. A lot of times we don’t allow the body to do what it’s supposed to, sometimes for vanity reasons. I will admit switching to a natural lotion and toothpaste were easier transitions for me, this deodorant thing well……let’s be real no one wants to walk around funky. I finally gave a natural one a try and I was pleasantly surprised.
Natural Deodorants are different than what you might be used to, for starters they are not designed to block perspiration. The body is supposed to sweat, why are we trying to block it? Oh wait odor that’s why. Let’s break this down a bit. Antiperspirant deodorants prevent you from perspiring by blocking your pores. We often equate perspiration with odor, however the odor comes from bacteria that arises in the moist environment under your arms. The Naturally Fresh deodorant uses mineral salts to inhibit the bacteria thus eliminating the odor. So yes you may perspire a bit, but their will not be any odor. Yes, I was nervous to use this. The first day I used it was on the weekend just in case. Naturally Fresh is available in several varieties, I received the crystal roll on and a spray mist.
The first day I used the mist. Took me a minute to get used to it since I was used to my solid Degree. The mist was wet for a few seconds after spraying under my arm, which felt well weird. I survived the day with no issues, I didn’t feel like I perspired any more then normal, meaning I didn’t feel wet under my arms at all. Over the next week I replaced my normal deodorant with the naturally fresh even to work. It lasted through my day and I never got funky. No odor, no wetness, no irritation it’s a win in my book.
